Launch Your Child into Kindergarten: School Readiness!

I just want to say "Thank You" for visiting my site. Please make sure to join the community by adding your picture! I look forward to getting to know you better! Thanks for visiting!

Parents you are teachers too! You no longer have the luxury of being able to totally leave the education of your child to the school system.

The school system is failing so many of our children. Many children are behind even before they hit the door!

I promise if you start implementing some of these things in your home and daily routine your child will not only be ready for kindergarten—they will be ahead!

1.   Teach Your Child Letter Sounds with the Leap Frog – Letter Factory video. I used this video to teach all of my children. Even my twin boys, who are 2 years old know the letter sounds and names.

2. Teach Pre-Reading Skills with Hooked on Phonics Learn to Read Pre-K Edition  Your kids will be introduced to letter names, letters sounds, and phonemic awareness through workbooks, CD-ROMs, books and flashcards.

3. Teach Your Child How To Read!  There are some really great products on the market. I personally recommend Funnix and or Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons.

4.   More basic skills–don’t worry—The Pre-School Prep is awesome! Preschool Prep & Sight Words 7 DVD Pack (Meet the Letters, Meet the Numbers, Meet the Shapes, Meet the Colors, Meet the Sight Words 1, Meet the Sight Words 2, Meet the Sight Words 3)

Your child will teach basic concepts like number recognition, shapes, letters, and sight words!

My children absolutely love these videos! In fact my  2 year old twins know number recognition, all letter names and sounds, shapes  from these videos!

To take shape recognition to the next level I would also recommend Munchkin Math: Shapes. My boys know shapes like rhombus, octagon, trapezoid, hemisphere, etc—and yes they point them out everywhere we go!

Parents—there are so many resources on the market that will ensure that your child is properly prepared for kindergarten. There is no reason your child should enter unprepared.

Make sure you check out my child education resource page because there are some awesome resources that you will want to add to your home!
